A few years ago, while designing a clinic refresh project, the client expressed concerns about the widely accepted upholstery fabric we had specified. They noted that it tended to stretch and sag in similar high-traffic settings and felt it would not meet their long-term needs.
As we were nearing the completion of the construction documents, we quickly had to re-specify all the upholstery fabrics. This presented a challenge, but we were fortunate to find an alternative product—Silica fabric by Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering—that was not only durable and stretch-resistant but also offered an impressive range of patterns and colors. This allowed us to preserve the original aesthetic while addressing our client’s concerns.
The fabric we selected featured high silicone content, preventing stretching and puddling, ensuring better long-term performance. The final result was a textile that met both the functional and aesthetic needs of the space. The facility has been thriving since, and the fabric continues to perform well, even under heavy use.
It is reassuring to see that today’s fabrics for clinical facilities not only withstand tough cleaning protocols but also maintain their appearance over time. With a wide selection of colors and patterns available, even in last-minute design adjustments, you can find a solution that works both practically and visually.
